Gringo's Mexican Restaurant

Food was great and so was the service. I will be going back the next time I am in the mood for Mexican.

I have been to Gringo's about 6 times now. Love the food and the atmosphere...great place to go for dinner or just a few drinks.

I've read through all the bad reviews. And despite the comments made, kept an open mind, and I have to say to everbody that has spoken badly of this restaurant... Go to taco bell, because that's the limit of your culinary experience ! and unless your a escaped mental patient that can't tell the difference between Authentic mexican cuisine and hospital food. Didn't know Am/Pm gave out cooking diploma's good to know... Yay!!!! For Gringo's, just dumb people looking for a free meal!

After reading all the negative reviews, we thought Gringo's might have listened to their customers and improved. NOT!! The chips and salsa were fine. Our dinners were COLD. We sent them back and they came out about 2 degrees warmer. We were offered a free drink or dessert, but declined - enough punishment! We couldn't eat our entrees, and just left. A lesson learned - we'll never go back.

Thanks everybody. I was just about to go there now i not. spend my money somewhere else.

This place is the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Apparently everyone out there agrees with me, except for the manager of the restaurant who made his critique sound more like an advertisement. 5 sauces made in house...etc. What a joke!

Great food, great staff. Fun place to meet friends for drinks!

Tried Gringo's, was hoping for a good mexican restaurant in town, not to be. we have had mexican food all over Canada and the US and have had better at the am pm gas stations.The owner should try Me Mexico in Bellingham for some tips. The food was cold no cheese on anything no sour cream, beens were from a can. I had a beef barito that had no beef just rice (left half on my plate)not like me. I will watch the reviews to see if it gets better, we are hopful.

We were so excited to see a new Mexican Restaurant in Chilliwack....
But after one meal we have decided they had better, make some drastic changes.
The beens and rice were cold. Not cool but cold. The enchillada sauces was tomatoe sauce with a bit of chilli powder. The chicken was good! The fresh salsa was great. The chips were baked but ok.
There was NO salad, and very little cheese on the Chicken Enchillada dinner.
No sour creme or fresh anything.
The Chilli Relano was fair....
So Gringo's if you read this, here are a few tips or pointers...
1 - Have a nice fresh salad with the dinners!
2 - a lot more jack cheese type cheeses are needed and sour creme.
3 - Why don't your try Safeways store brand enchillada sauce. It would greatly improve your meals.
4 - Fresh tortilla's with the meals would be nice
5 - Cilintro???? That is always good with mexican food.
6 - most important of all MAKE SURE THE MEALS ARE HOT.... not cool or cold.

I don't know who mama is but she needs to go back to cooking school.
Really it was not good food for what it cost.
We don't plan on coming back. To bad really as a good mexican restaurant would be nice.

Decor terrible and cheap, but this I figured could be overlooked by good food, service and drinks. Needless to say the service and food was not very good either. The complimentary chips n salsa was terrible as the chips were overcooked. Our entree taco's were not flavourful and the server was terrbile. Nothing to rave about . . . drive to Bellingham if you really feel like Mexican . . . don't waste your money at this dump !

Well if it's authentic you are after then pass this one over...ordered a chili Relleno, Beautiful presentation but....It was a blob of Italian and Greek feta cheese inside the chili and you could not taste anything but salty Feta cheese...Owner was surprised when we mentioned that it tasted like Italian cheese...The beans tasted like refried beans from a can, really dry and thick, and the rice was bland..The salsa was mostly lime juice with no tomato to speak of, but the chips on the other hand were quite good for totopos

Kept an open mind after reading bad reviews. Sorry but have to agree, not good at all ! Small menu with nothing 'crispy' - no Taco Salad, Tostido, hard shell taco, etc Food bland served at room temperature first time I've had Mexican with no cheese melted on top or inside Margarita was like a cool-aid slush with booze in it music too loud prices weird - on menu sour cream is $1.91 but written on receipt as $2.00 - did my math and it's equal to tax just not added to bottom of receipt like everywhere else - little confusing. ONLY good thing was the waitress who was attentive, smiling, helpful and courteous. I'd rather face the border crossing and go to El Nopal across the Sumas border - now that's good Mexican food. Dont waste your time - sorry !

Simply the best food in Chilliwack! The next closest authentic Mexican restaurant is 40km away and pales in comparison. Thanks for giving me a such an amazing place to eat here!

Gringos food is amazing and the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. They make five of their own sauces in house and they come to the table in bottles so you can make it as spicy and as you want. The music is a little loud and the decor is definitely rustic and tacky, but thats what makes this place stand out from the other bland restaurants around. It's the ONLY place downtown to get a meal after 930pm! The authentic Mexican food is enough to keep me coming back, but the staff really make it an enjoyable place to eat and hangout.

This place was laughingly bad. It was supposed to be their opening night. We went in and ordered drinks, which they forgot about so we received them 20 minutes later. All three of us ordered tacos. They took forever to get them to us, and then finally told us that the slips had been mixed up. When we finally got our tacos (which were $10 for two), they were small and bland. The taco shell was greasy, and the sides were plain (refried beans and rice). To add to our dismay, the ambiance was terrible. The waitresses apparently brought their children, who were running around and yelling, and the place looked like it had opened during renovation. The bar and the stage were bare ply wood and the paint on the walls looked like it had been slathered on in a hurry. In the end they offered no apology for the service, did not ask us if we wanted our bill split, and then took forever to calculate. This experience was so terrible, it was like a skit from Faulty Tower. I would NEVER eat there again, and I recommend anyone who enjoys Mexican food should stay far, far away!
