I lived in Japan for 15 years, so I know pretty much about Japanese food. Their sunomono isn't taste right. Their tempura and sauce are way far from real tempura. They don't have the food with teriyaki sauce on it in Japan. I've heard the owner is Korean, so I shouldn't expect real Japanese food there but I was disappointed with their food. I've been to other Japanese restaurants in Chilliwack and all the restaurants served same kind of food which don't exist in Japan. Why do they call that Japanese restaurant? It's just because they serve sushi??? I wanna eat sushi with real soysauce... not like soysauce at Woomai. I just can't believe so many people think that's the Japanese food. I rather cook and eat Japanese food at home or drive all the way down to real Japanese restaurants in downtown...

Woomai is with no doubt the best sushi place in Chilliwack! They use real sockeye salmon not the farmed salmon and only the best ingredients. All of their dishes are made by hand and everything tastes extremely fresh. James the owner is the most inviting friendly man you will meet and it is always a wonderful experience every time I visit Woomai D!

Woo Mai Sushi is by far the most outstanding sushi restaurant in the Valley. James is an excellent chef/owner. He always welcomes you with a smile as you enter the establishment. Our family has gone there since it opened in June of 2001. In fact it will be the TENTH ANNIVERSARY of Woo Mai on June 19th. My wife and I have recently embarked on a diet which has us eating less carbs. This is no problem for James as he prapares a dish appropriate for us each visit. On every visit, we are presented with several on the house treats. I hope everyone who feels the same way about this classy restaurant will join us on the 19th of June to let James know how much he is appreciated !

they water down their soysauce and have very small portions. the dynamite roll only has one prawn tempura in it and their special tiger roll that costs 8 dollars is just a dynamite roll (with NO veggies or crab or sauce inside) and another prawn on top, one strip of mayo and 5 sesame seeds. VERY disappointing. Also their sunomono salad had one small piece of cucumber in it and 2 small ebi, and the vinegar base was not far from plain water. The service was ok but we did run out of tea even though we were the only ones in the place. Will not be attending there again.

If you know asian cuisine at all Woo Mai Sushi does a good job. Gets busy sometimes and may be a bit slow but worth the wait. As long as you are not some ignorant racist hick that wants to eat ethnic and make fun of the service and atmosphere. Encountered people like that a few times here and other asian/ethnic eateries.

I love this restaurant. Always 'On the House' food for the occasional less than stellar service. The staff remember us and treat us accordingly. Awesome!!!

Out of all the Japanese restaurants I've been to in the lower mainland (I have been to many) Woo Mai is still my favourite by far. Although I admit that at busy times the service can be less than stellar (you can see the frustration on the waitresses faces), the food more than makes up for it. James always goes above and beyond to make sure our food is great and we always end getting more than we paid for.

Slow, rude, music sucks, terrible waitress. They need to change the owner then I may go back there for some sushi.

Terrible service, rude waitress speaks in Japanese behind our back (I know because I speak Japanese, but they didn't know that, so they thought they could insult us in Japanese).
